Frequently asked questions
Clear answers about working with Nuvise, our services, delivery process and ongoing technical support.
Working with Nuvise
What does Nuvise do?
Nuvise designs, builds, hosts and improves dependable software for businesses, founders and agencies.
Our work includes internal business systems, workflow and approval platforms, operational dashboards, client portals, MVPs, system integrations and improvements to existing software.
We can manage the complete technical delivery or work behind the scenes as part of another company’s client engagement.
Who is Nuvise best suited to work with?
Nuvise may be a good fit if:
- Your business relies on spreadsheets, email or repetitive administration
- Your existing software no longer supports the way you operate
- You want to turn an idea into a credible first product
- Your customers or partners need secure access to information
- Your agency needs dependable technical delivery capacity
- You need someone who can remain responsible after the initial launch
If an existing product already solves the requirement more practically, we will say so.
What industries do you work with?
We work across industries where businesses need dependable workflows, structured information, secure access and useful reporting.
Rather than limiting ourselves to one industry, we focus on understanding how the organisation operates, who uses the system and what outcome the technology must support.
Where is Nuvise based?
Nuvise is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. We can work with clients and partner agencies remotely, using agreed communication, review and delivery processes.
Will we work directly with Cassius Maluleka?
Yes. Cass remains involved in discovery, solution direction and senior technical oversight.
Nuvise provides the delivery structure, development capacity, hosting and long-term continuity required to support the relationship beyond one individual.
Starting a project
How do we get started?
Begin by completing our project conversation form and telling us:
- What you are trying to improve or build
- Who is affected by the problem
- How the process works today
- What you would like to achieve
- Whether there is an existing system, deadline or budget expectation
We will review the information and recommend a practical next step.
What happens during the first conversation?
The first conversation helps us understand the business problem, intended users, current process and desired outcome.
It is not a technical interrogation or a commitment to begin development. Its purpose is to determine whether Nuvise is a suitable partner and whether the next step should be discovery, a technical assessment or a defined delivery proposal.
Do we need a completed technical specification?
No. You can approach us with a business problem, an early product idea, an existing system or a client brief.
We can help clarify the workflow, users, priorities and technical approach before significant development begins.
What if we are not yet sure what we need?
That is often the purpose of discovery.
We will examine the problem, the current way of working and the outcome you want before recommending whether you need a new system, an integration, focused automation or improvements to something that already exists.
Can Nuvise improve or take over an existing system?
Yes, subject to an initial technical assessment.
We first review the available code, database, hosting, documentation, dependencies and current problems. This allows us to determine whether the system should be stabilised, improved in stages or rebuilt.
Access to the existing code and technical environment will normally be required.
Scope, cost and delivery
How much does a software project cost?
Cost depends on the users, workflows, integrations, data, security requirements and responsibilities involved.
After understanding the requirement, we define an appropriate scope and provide an estimated investment. Where important questions remain, we may recommend a discovery or assessment stage before committing to the complete build.
How long does a project take?
Timelines depend on the project’s scope, complexity, integrations and the availability of stakeholders to provide information and feedback.
A focused first release may be delivered in stages, while a larger operational system will require more planning, testing and implementation.
The expected stages and timeline are agreed before significant development begins.
Do you offer fixed-price projects?
A fixed price may be suitable when the requirements, responsibilities, assumptions and acceptance conditions are sufficiently clear.
When the work contains significant uncertainty, we may recommend discovery, phased delivery or a managed development arrangement. The commercial approach will be explained before work begins.
Will we be involved during development?
Yes. We develop through visible stages and involve you in the decisions that affect the business, users and final outcome.
Regular demonstrations and review points help confirm that the system reflects the agreed requirement before development progresses too far.
Do you provide design as well as development?
Yes. We can help define the user journey, interface structure and practical experience required for the system.
Our focus is not only on how the product looks, but also on whether users can understand it and complete the important workflow effectively.
Can you integrate with our existing systems?
Where suitable technical access is available, we can integrate with existing applications, APIs, payment services, data sources and business tools.
The integration must first be assessed because access, documentation, subscription restrictions and data quality differ between providers.
Business systems and MVPs
Do we need custom software, or could an existing product work?
Not every operational problem requires custom software.
An existing product may be the better choice when it supports the important workflow without creating excessive compromises. Custom software becomes more relevant when the process is specific to your business, existing tools remain disconnected or workarounds are creating significant operational difficulty.
Nuvise will help you assess the most practical approach.
Do we have to replace all our spreadsheets and current tools?
No. A new system can often be introduced in stages.
Existing spreadsheets may remain useful for imports, exports or analysis while the central system takes responsibility for validation, workflow, permissions and reliable records.
What is included in an MVP?
An MVP should include the smallest credible version of the product that allows the intended user to complete its central task.
The exact scope depends on what the product needs to prove. We help distinguish essential functionality from features that can be introduced after the product has been tested with real users.
What happens after the MVP or system is launched?
After launch, Nuvise can continue providing hosting, monitoring, maintenance, technical support and planned improvements.
We can also help evaluate user feedback, operational problems and new requirements so that future development is based on evidence rather than assumptions.
Agency partnerships
Do you work with creative, marketing and consulting agencies?
Yes. Nuvise works behind the scenes with agencies that need additional technical capacity, specialist development support or a dependable partner for ongoing client systems.
The agency retains its client relationship while Nuvise provides the agreed technical delivery and oversight.
Can you work completely white-label?
Yes. We can remain entirely behind the scenes, work directly with the agency’s internal team or join client conversations when invited.
Client visibility, branding, communication and responsibilities are agreed before work begins.
How do you protect an agency’s client relationship?
We agree on confidentiality, communication boundaries, client visibility and responsibilities before delivery.
Where required, these arrangements can be supported by confidentiality, non-disclosure or non-solicitation terms in the applicable agreement.
Can an agency bring Nuvise into a project before it has been sold?
Yes. We can help assess a client requirement, identify technical uncertainty and shape a realistic delivery scope.
The agency and Nuvise should first agree on the level of presales involvement and when deeper investigation becomes a formal discovery engagement.
Ownership, hosting and support
Who owns the software Nuvise builds?
Ownership and usage rights are agreed in writing for each project.
The arrangement may differ depending on whether Nuvise is creating client-owned software, using reusable components, licensing existing technology or delivering work through an agency.
The applicable proposal or service agreement will explain what is transferred, licensed or retained.
Will we have access to our code, data and hosting?
Access and ownership arrangements are agreed before delivery.
We recommend clearly identifying where the code, databases, domains, hosting accounts and third-party services will reside, who controls them and what would be required if the system were transferred in future.
Does Nuvise provide hosting?
Yes. Nuvise can provide and manage hosting as part of an ongoing service or deploy the solution into an approved client environment.
The hosting arrangement should define account ownership, backups, monitoring, maintenance, support and relevant third-party costs.
Do you provide support and maintenance?
Yes. Support can include hosting management, monitoring, troubleshooting, security and dependency updates, backups, minor improvements and continued development.
The exact services, response expectations and commercial arrangement are defined in the relevant support agreement.
Can another developer maintain the system later?
That depends on the ownership, licensing and handover terms agreed for the project.
Where a client-owned handover is included, we can provide the agreed code, access details and available documentation. Third-party developers should first review the system before accepting responsibility for it.
Privacy, security and confidentiality
Will our business and project information remain confidential?
We treat non-public client, agency and project information as confidential and use it only for the agreed engagement.
Where additional protection is required, we can enter into a confidentiality or non-disclosure agreement before detailed information is shared.
How does Nuvise approach security?
Security requirements are assessed according to the system, its users and the information being processed.
Measures may include controlled user access, secure authentication, encrypted connections, backups, monitoring and regular maintenance.
No online system is completely risk-free, so responsibilities and project-specific security requirements should be agreed during discovery.
How does Nuvise handle personal information?
Nuvise processes personal information for legitimate business and operational purposes, such as responding to enquiries, preparing proposals, delivering services and administering client relationships.
Further details are provided in our Privacy Policy and POPIA documentation.
What is the difference between the Privacy Policy, POPIA notice and PAIA manual?
The Privacy Policy explains how information collected through the Nuvise website is handled.
The POPIA documentation explains matters relating to the lawful processing and protection of personal information.
The PAIA manual explains what company records may be requested and the procedure for requesting access to those records.
How can I submit a privacy, legal or information request?
Send your request to info@nuvise.co.za and explain whether it relates to privacy, personal information, POPIA, PAIA or another legal matter.
We may request additional information to verify your identity and understand the request before responding.
